Randy Kerns - Independent storage consultant
Randy Kerns is an independent storage consultant. In the past, he served as vice president of strategy and planning for storage at Sun Microsystems Inc., and covers storage and storage management software including SAN and NAS analysis.
He has been in the computer industry for over 30 years, involved in the development of storage products for both mainframe and open systems. His background is in product design and development. Randy's education includes a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Missouri at Rolla and a master's degree in engineering computer science from the University of Colorado. He has worked for IBM and Fujitsu, as vice president of engineering at the Array Technology subsidiary of Tandem Computers and as director of engineering for Enterprise Disk at Storage Technology Corporation. Randy has been involved in product development of both disk and tape subsystems for those companies.
Randy is a frequent conference speaker and is the author of many industry articles and white papers.
