My environment is:
  • SMS 2003 site
  • AD environment
  • No schema extension
  • Advanced Security
  • AD systems discovery
  • Site boundaries include IP subnets and AD sites
Will an SMS client computer that logs on to the network from a subnet that is not defined in the boundaries receive and run the advertisement that it is advertised to? For example, could someone logging in from home download, execute or run the advertisement from the distribution point?
QUESTION POSED ON: 15 JUL 2004
QUESTION ANSWERED BY: Rod Trent A computer must be in a managed subnet (defined in the boundaries) before it will receive advertisements. You can set up roaming boundaries for your Advanced clients so that they can still receive advertisements even though their network information might change. Look in the Concepts, Planning, and Deployment Guide under the Roaming and Roaming Boundaries section.
