How would VoIP behave for a customer who receives a fax, given that you can't predict how the Internet is being used at any given time, by how many people or how it's impacting the call you're on?

QUESTION ANSWERED BY: Russell Shaw
To a very significant extent, the quality of your VoIP connection is influenced by the speed and quality of your broadband connection. Because voice and data need greater bandwidth per second than just voice or data do, you will want to ensure that your broadband connection is robust -- ideally 500 Kbps or above.
One way to test whether your broadband connection can support VoIP is to use a free service called TestYourVoIP.com. This service will complete a test VoIP call for you, show you the results and give you information about whatever problems it may find. Or, if you prefer, send us your test results in an e-mail, and I will analyze them for you.
