Can you recover a down AS/400 to a different AS/400? We have TCP/IP running over Ethernet for each location and SNA lines running at both locations. The user profiles aren't the same at each location and neither are the device descriptions. I would also need to delete some of the existing data on the recovering AS/400 to make room for the down AS/400. QUESTION POSED ON: 27 APR 2006
QUESTION ANSWERED BY: Carol Woodbury For these types of questions I would look for the iSeries Backup and Recovery manual for answers. It should have arrived with your system (one of few manuals that still do). If not, it's available from the IBM Information Center. You will specifically want to look at the ramifications of things like restoring data to a system where the owner doesn't exist (the object's owner is set to QDFTOWN) or restoring user profiles to a system where some already exist and some don't.
