How can I write a script to import all of the Excel rows into Lotus Notes as one document for each row of the Excel sheet? QUESTION POSED ON: 11 APR 2006
QUESTION ANSWERED BY: Mathew Newman A script in this case is not necessary; the task can be performed using a less complex data import.
  1. Create a form in Lotus Domino Designer that has all of the fields matching the column names in your Excel spreadsheet. (I am going to call this "ImportForm.").

  2. Create a view where the view columns match the columns in the Excel spreadsheet, where each column's definition in the view uses the field names created in step 1.

  3. Open the Excel spreadsheet, and save the file as a "WK4 (123)" file type, make sure you append the .wk4 extension to the file name.

  4. Open the view created in step 2.

  5. From the "File" menu, choose "Import."

  6. . In the Import dialog box, choose the Lotus 123 (wk4) file saved at step 3.

  7. Choose the following settings, "Import as: Main Documents", "Using Form: ImportForm" (see step 1), "Column Format: Defined by the view", Click [OK].
For each new row in the spreadsheet a new Lotus Notes Document will be created and populated with the Field (NotesItem) names specified in the view definition and values from the spreadsheet.
