How can I plan how many number of blades I'll need five years from now? QUESTION POSED ON: 09 MAR 2006
QUESTION ANSWERED BY: Carrie Higbie My suggestion is to take it in much smaller blocks of time. How many servers have you added in the last two and a half years? Double this number and you will be closer than trying to predict what will happen in five years. Add a little buffer if you know that you will be adding certain applications that don't exist today for specific departmental tasks. It is also important to make sure that each department has some input in this plan. They may have plans to add things that IT is the last to know about. This will help your predictions be more on target.
