I have domain with a Windows 2003 domain controller. Since this is the only DC, if it fails for some reason, the network will go down. I'd like to add another DC like a BDC in NT. What are the steps to follow? QUESTION POSED ON: 02 DEC 2005
QUESTION ANSWERED BY: Laura E. Hunter You can add an additional domain controller in 2003 by simply running DCpromo from a member server, then selecting the option to add a new domain controller to an existing domain. You'll be prompted for Domain Admin credentials, after which AD information will automatically replicate over to the additional DC. Be sure to update any necessary WINS and DNS records so that your clients can locate the new domain controller.
