I went on one of our sites to change the configuration of a PC and found a local user called: ASP.NET. I checked with other administrators and couldn't find why this username has been created. Could you tell me what it could be used for and how it would have been created? Thanks. QUESTION POSED ON: 09 SEP 2005
QUESTION ANSWERED BY: Andrew Young The ASP.NET machine name is automatically created when the .NET framework is installed on a machine. It is similar to the IUSR_<computer name> when installing IIS. This allows ASP.NET worker processes (aspnet_wp.exe) to proceed via IIS.
