Is it possible to make our company address book accessible via OWA and Exchange 5.5?

(This is for a non-AD domain, Exchange 5.5 on Win2k server. OWA is set up on an in-house Web server, Win2k server). QUESTION POSED ON: 14 JUL 2005
QUESTION ANSWERED BY: David Sengupta Good question. There are two possible sources for the Exchange 5.5 Global Address List (GAL) -- namely the Exchange 5.5 directory (i.e., if you're on an NT 4.0 domain, which sounds like it's the case), or Active Directory (i.e., if you have an Active Directory Connector (ADC) in place). The GAL is automatically available to Outlook clients, and any OWA 5.5 user will be able to query the GAL from within OWA. There is no way of having a scrollable, cursor-based address list from within OWA.

If your company address book is in an outside data source, then you'll need to use some sort of GAL-synch utility or a metadirectory to synchronize the external company address book with the GAL.

Hope that helps!

David
