Our Nserver.exe is failing on a weekly basis. The Dr. Watson log points to stack overflow or access violation. Can you help? QUESTION POSED ON: 15 JUN 2005
QUESTION ANSWERED BY: Mathew Newman Which Domino version, operating system version and hardware platform are you dealing with? How BIG is the registry on the machine? What other tasks does the host perform? How long has the issue been going on? What hardware changes/software installations have occurred since the problem began? Have you performed any diagnosis of your own before submitting your question?

According to Microsoft, stack overflows are:

Stacks are reserved memory that programs use to process hardware events. A stack overflow occurs when there is not enough space in memory to run the hardware interrupt routines. To resolve these behaviors, you can modify the "STACKS=" line in the Config.sys file, eliminate terminate-and-stay-resident program (TSRs) and eliminate hardware conflicts.
I have also found that consistent stack overflow errors are normally memory triggered and can be a sign of memory failure in the machine. Try replacing the memory in the machine, rebuild the platform and then reinstate Domino (see my recent blog entry covering a similar process).
