I need to know the step-by-step process to enable our iSeries 820 to FTP files via the Internet to other FTP sites. I know some things have to be configured on the iSeries and some things have to be done on the firewall and gateway. I need a roadmap on how to set up this process. QUESTION POSED ON: 06 JUN 2005
QUESTION ANSWERED BY: Shahar Mor The iSeries is a member of your LAN. It can connect to the router and "go out" depending on your configuration.

I do not know the exact topology of your network, but the iSeries should be able to route to the Internet. If, for example, you have a small LAN with only one router and one firewall you should:

  1. Cfgtcp --> option 2
  2. Add *dftroute with next hop pointing to your router.
  3. Configure the firewall to allow outgoing traffic from your AS/400 address to the Internet on the FTP port.
This is all that is needed.
