On a Windows 2000 Server, how can I relocate a folder with subfolders that are shares to another partition on that server and maintain the share names, share permissions and file permissions? QUESTION POSED ON: 10 MAR 2005
QUESTION ANSWERED BY: Bernie Klinder Try using Robocopy.exe, a utility from the Windows Server 2000 Resource Kit. This utility is great for mirroring entire directories and with the security and file attributes intact. Be careful when using the /move switch with Robocopy, as there is no error checking if there are network issues during the move. Use the /copy command with the appropriate switches.
