QUESTION ANSWERED BY: Craig Mullins, Years 2005-2006 Well, I'd suggest you pick up a couple of books on the topic. There are a couple of good ones, but they are a bit pricey. First off, there is Research Advances in Database and Information Systems Security, though it'll set you back over $100.

Another good book on the topic is Database Security by Silvio Castano, et al. It was published by ACM Press in the mid-1990s, but it is out of print. Besides that Amazon link, you can try to find it at a used book store.

Of course, there are free resources available on the Internet, too. I wrote a short article about a year ago that might give you some ideas. It can be found here. And here are a few more online resources worth reviewing:
