Hello Ian. Does intelligence in "business intelligence" mean the same as intelligence in Central Intelligence Agency" or "An intelligent man has intelligence"? Is it a kind of information? How can a business have intelligence? QUESTION POSED ON: 13 OCT 2004
QUESTION ANSWERED BY: Ian Abramson Great question. I sometimes wonder the same thing about intelligence. In this case we are talk about the CIA type of intelligence. Business intelligence uses information you gather from within your organization to help then gain insights into how their business is performing. It provides companies with the information they need to make decisions, just like the CIA. And just like the CIA, users of a business intelligence are not required to be intelligent and can make bad decisions based on good information.
